If there is a surviving spouse or children they may be eligible for part of the deceased's pension or any unclaimed part of an accumulated benefit. Please refer to the relevant application forms below.

If there is no surviving spouse or children, the benefit would normally be paid to the Member's estate. However the MSB Board has a discretion to pay a benefit to a person who is dependent upon the Member, provided that person is named in the Member's will and was previously nominated by the Member to the MSB Board.
An Application for Estate Benefits (DM90) (PDF, 216KB) form will be required.

In the event of death whilst on salary forfeited AWOL for a continuous period of more than 21 days, there is no MilitarySuper death benefit available to an eligible spouse, child/children or to your estate unless the Board is satisfied that there are sufficient mitigating circumstances. Instead, a resignation benefit becomes payable.
