The MilitarySuper Book

The MilitarySuper Book has been designed to provide you with information on the main features of MilitarySuper. This book covers how it is administered; how your contributions are paid into an investment Fund; how the Fund is managed; how its earnings are allocated; and how MilitarySuper pays a benefit to you when you leave the Australian Defence Force. It outlines the different types of benefits available, and shows how each one is worked out.

Note: page 43 of the MilitarySuper Book refers to spouse benefits for marital relationships after age 60. The MilitarySuper Book states, a spouse’s pension under the MSB Rules was not generally payable if the pensioner commences a marital relationship after age 60 and died within 5 years of the relationship commencing.

From 1 January 2008 full benefits will be paid if the marital relationship has existed for at least 3 years. Where the post-retirement marriage has existed for less than 3 years, a pro-rata of the spouse’s pension will be payable. For further information please contact MilitarySuper.
