Note: page 43 of the MilitarySuper Book refers to spouse benefits for marital relationships after age 60. The MilitarySuper Book states, a spouse’s pension under the MSB Rules was not generally payable if the pensioner commences a marital relationship after age 60 and died within 5 years of the relationship commencing.
From 1 January 2008 full benefits will be paid if the marital relationship has existed for at least 3 years. Where the post-retirement marriage has existed for less than 3 years, a pro-rata of the spouse’s pension will be payable.
